The history of
Vikseatra goes all the way back to the year of 1783 .We know that for sure because the
oldest remaining building " Ljoerbu" still stands and on the inside over the
door there is a carving in the woodwork telling when it was built. Spending time here is like living in ancient times and you really get the whole atmosphere into your body and under your skin. Vikseatra cottage complex consists of 9 buildings of which 4 is used for accommodation, 1 for shorter periods of "sleeping over" , 1 for indoor activities ( the old stable ) and 2 for firewood and tools. Last but not least the " Do" which is the toilet. |
| About 25 meters in front of the whole complex runs the Femund River which is famous for its trout and grayling fishing. Here you will have the best of chances that you will ever get to fulfil your dreams of fishing in unspoiled nature with clean water you can drink directly from the river. For 50,00 Nok. per day, 150,00 Nok. per week or 300,00 Nok. per season you will be allowed to fish on approx. 15 km of the west side of Femund river with Vikseatra situated on the middle .Here you will find some of the best fishing in the middle of Norway for trout and grayling whether you are a flyfisherman or any other kind of sportsfisherman. In addition to a number of other species of fish there is also a good chance of getting a huge pike or Scandinavian bass if you fish the right spots

Old Seaterstua has a living room with an open
fireplace and are well furnished . The interior is mainly original things from old days
when there were still living people here. Staying here is like becoming a part of the
past, feeling how it was like living in those days. There is installed a solar cell system
which provide 12 volt power for light in smaller scale. The kitchen are recently restored to fulfil the requirements of kitchen standard today but it still holds the atmosphere of the past. Here you will find all you need for cooking such as knives, forks, pots and pans, cups and glasses etc. etc.Underneath the kitchen floor there is a cold storage room for food. Propane gas is included and so are firewood for the ovens and fireplaces. The bedroom has 1 double-bed and 2 single beds. There is room enough for an additional bed or inflatable madras in the room if you bring one yourself. You will find pillows and madras's here but you will have to bring your own bedcovers and sheets. |

For those of you who rent a
cabin or a cottage, old Ljoerbu is at your disposal. Here You can light an open fire in
the middle of the night before you go to sleep or you can sit and tell stories with
friends of yours in the flickering light where only the faces are seen across the fire and
who knows, maybe the moment then calls for a dram or two as the whole atmosphere begins to
crawl up you backbone and under you skin.Dont cheat yourself for one of these moments. Showing you this gesture also mean that we take it for granted that everyone who use old Ljoerbu treats it with respect and take care of this old building, as we expect you to treat every building this way. Having the opportunity to stay for a while in this old complex on Vikseatra is a matter of trust but we know that within a few seconds after you have arrived you will love this place and help us keeping it as it was, by leaving the buildings in a nice and clean order. This way it will be possible for us all to get back and enjoy this wonderful place in Norway where we can become a part of the past and at the same time enjoy the holiday by fishing, walking in the forest or just simply enjoying life with your family or a friend for a few days.
